Our psychologists work with the following adult presentations:
Anxiety disorders, persistent worry, panic symptoms, and high-functioning anxiety
Chronic stress, burnout, and stress-related somatic symptoms
Depressive symptoms, low mood, reduced motivation, and adjustment difficulties
Neurodivergent presentations, including ADHD and autism (particularly high-masking and late-identified adults)
Emotional dysregulation, overwhelm, and difficulties with self-criticism and perfectionism
Life transitions and identity concerns, including career stress, relationship changes, and early adulthood adjustment
Perinatal and postnatal mental health concerns, including antenatal and postpartum anxiety and mood difficulties
Relationship and attachment-related difficulties, including interpersonal stress and boundary challenges
Psychological support for parents of neurodivergent children
We regularly support patients where symptoms are multifactorial and intersect with occupational stress, caregiving demands, neurodivergence, and life stage pressures. Care is delivered in collaboration with referrers, with clear communication and a shared focus on functional improvement and wellbeing.
How We Work
At State of Being, we take a collaborative, evidence-based approach to psychological care. Our work is grounded in creating a calm, non-judgemental space where clients feel safe to slow down, reflect, and better understand themselves.
We tailor therapy to the individual, taking into account nervous system capacity, neurodivergence, life stage, and current stressors. Sessions are practical and reflective, with a focus on building insight, emotional regulation, and sustainable change rather than symptom suppression alone.
Where appropriate, we work alongside GPs, psychiatrists, and other allied health professionals to support coordinated care.
Therapeutic Approach
Our clinicians draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Internal Family Systems informed therapy (parts-based work)
Schema therapy
Trauma-informed and nervous system-aware approaches
Neuro-affirming support for ADHD and autism (including high-masking presentations)
Treatment plans are adapted over time in response to the client’s goals, presentation, and progress, with an emphasis on safety, collaboration, and long-term wellbeing.
